The Ruby Valley trek in the Ganesh Himal range is one of Nepal's best-kept trekking secrets. Named after the rubies once mined in the area, this moderate 7-10 day trek passes through Tamang and Gurung villages where tourism hasn't yet changed daily life. You'll sleep in homestays, eat dal bhat with families, and walk through forests of rhododendron, bamboo, and oak with almost no other trekkers on the trail. The route reaches a maximum altitude of about 4,500m at Pangsang Pass, offering views of Ganesh Himal, Manaslu, and the Langtang range. Unlike the Annapurna Circuit, there are no teahouse menus or Wi-Fi cafes — just authentic village hospitality. Start from Syabrubesi or Dhunche. A guide is recommended as trails are not well-marked.
