At 4,065m in Solukhumbu, Pikey Peak offers what many consider the best Everest panorama in Nepal — and you can reach it in just 3-4 days of easy trekking. Edmund Hillary himself called this his favorite viewpoint. The sunrise here is extraordinary: the entire eastern Himalayan range from Kanchenjunga to Cho Oyu glows orange-pink, with Everest front and center. The trek passes through Sherpa villages, rhododendron forests, and Buddhist monasteries with almost no other trekkers. Unlike Everest Base Camp (which takes 12-14 days and costs thousands), Pikey Peak is achievable on a budget with basic teahouse accommodation. Start from Dhap or Phaplu (accessible by jeep from Kathmandu in 10 hours or a short flight to Phaplu). Best season: October-November and March-April.
