About this place

At 2,800m in Ramechhap district, Patale is emerging as one of the best road-accessible viewpoints to see Mount Everest. On a clear morning, the panorama stretches from Kanchenjunga in the east to Langtang in the west, with Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, and Cho Oyu clearly visible. Unlike Nagarkot or Dhulikhel, you're close enough that the peaks don't just sit on the horizon — they dominate the sky. The village itself is a quiet Tamang settlement with terraced fields, rhododendron forests, and zero tourist infrastructure beyond a few homestays. The drive from Kathmandu takes about 6-7 hours via Manthali (or fly to Ramechhap and drive 2 hours). Come for the sunrise, stay for the silence. October-March offers the clearest views.
