I feel like Nepali cinema has really leveled up recently. Some movies now have production quality that rivals Bollywood. Recently watched: - Panchayat (loved it, very real portrayal of village life) - Sano Sansar (surprisingly good acting) What else should I watch? Open to movies, web series, or YouTube channels. Especially interested in content that shows real Nepal, not just Kathmandu-centric stories.
If you have not seen Talakjung vs Tulke, watch it immediately. Older but absolutely brilliant — one of the best Nepali films ever made. For newer content, Prakash Saput music videos on YouTube have incredible storytelling about real rural Nepal.
Project Flavor Nepal on YouTube is amazing for food content. They visit small towns and document local food culture. Also Nepali Traveller does beautiful travel vlogs of places most people have never heard of. Great production quality.
Highly recommend Loot and Loot 2 if you want fun comedy that is actually well made. Also Jhola is an incredibly powerful film about the practice of Sati. Heavy but important.
