Reliable internet providers in Kathmandu? Need recommendations

RecommendationsOnNepal·12 months ago

Moving to a new apartment in Lazimpat and need to set up internet. Currently using Worldlink but their service has been terrible lately — constant disconnections in the evening. Requirements: - At least 100 Mbps - Stable for video calls (work from home) - Good customer support Has anyone tried Vianet, ClassicTech, or Subisu recently? How is their actual speed vs advertised speed?

Switched to Vianet 6 months ago and very happy. Getting consistent 90+ Mbps on a 100 Mbps plan. Their support responds on Viber within minutes. Only downside is installation took 2 weeks because of cable routing in my area.

ClassicTech fiber has been solid for me in Maharajgunj. 150 Mbps plan, actual speeds around 130-140. No disconnections during work calls. They have a good app to check usage. Avoid Subisu — speeds drop badly in evenings.

Pro tip: whatever provider you choose, ask for a dedicated line rather than sharing with neighbors. Costs a bit more but the difference in evening speeds is night and day. Also invest in a good router — the ISP-provided ones are terrible.
