The tech startup ecosystem in Nepal has grown so much in the last few years. We have seen fintech companies like Khalti and eSewa become mainstream, food delivery apps competing with each other, and more developers freelancing internationally. But I feel like we still have some gaps: - Very few SaaS products built for Nepali businesses - Limited VC funding compared to neighboring countries - Brain drain continues to be a challenge What do you think the next big opportunity is for Nepali tech founders?
I think the biggest opportunity is in B2B SaaS for Nepali SMEs. Most small businesses still manage everything on paper or basic Excel. A simple inventory + billing + CRM designed for Nepal with Nepali language and VAT compliance could be massive.
Edtech has huge potential too. The tuition culture in Nepal is enormous but everything is offline. A platform connecting students with verified tutors, with scheduling and payment, could work really well. Parents would pay for quality.
The problem is not ideas, its funding. Most Nepali startups bootstrap because VC culture barely exists here. Would love to see more angel investors from the diaspora investing back home. The talent is definitely here.
