Everyone has their go-to momo place. Mine is a tiny shop in Boudhha that serves jhol momo with a spicy tomato achar that is absolutely unreal. The buff momos are hand-wrapped and they steam them fresh every batch. What are your hidden gem momo spots? Bonus points if they are not the usual tourist recommendations. Looking for places locals actually go to.
You have to try the C-momo at Bota Momo in New Road. They deep fry the momos and toss them in a spicy sauce. Also the Kothey momos near Thamel — pan fried on one side, steamed on the other. Absolute perfection.
For jhol momo specifically, try the place in Jhamsikhel near the bakery. Their soup is made fresh with bone broth and sesame. Rs 200 for a plate. Best jhol momo in the valley hands down.
Everyone sleeps on the momo lady near Patan Dhoka. No name, just a steamer cart. She only makes buff kothey and sells out by 2pm every day. The achar is unreal.
